Twosign or Tousine Richardson was born in
about 1805, at Icklesham, near Winchelsea in Sussex[1].
In 1841 he was living with his wife Sarah in the parish of Broomhill, just east
of Rye[1].
By 1861 he was a carter, they were still in Broomhill, and they had three
children and two lodgers[3].
In 1881, Twosign and Sarah were living in Lydd, somewhere between the school and
the High Street[5].
The name "Twosign" may have originated
from the French name "Toussaint" - see link for
