Colin was born in Stirling
in 1893 to Robert and Elizabeth Gardner. By 1919 he lived in
Callander and was employed by the Caledonian Railway as a
locomotive fireman. On 29th October 1919 he married Violet Rollo,
who also lived in Callander and was a ticket collector at
Callander station.
Colin continued his
railway career as a locomotive driver. In 1950 he was living with
his wife Violet in Perth, at 10 Malvina Place.
In 1950 at the age of 57,
Colin died in Perth hospital of peritonitis (infection of the
abdominal lining).
