Lieut. Dugald MacFarlane of Kilmun &
Acharosson, 1st Laird, was born about 1705 in Scotland. He
married his distant cousin Margaret Crawford of Inverlauren, who became
Lady Kilmun & Acharosson, and was daughter of Robert Crawford of Inverlauren (in
Glen Fruin, Dunbartonshire, Scotland) and Janet MacFarlane of Ardourlich, Lady
Inverlauren who, in turn, was a daughter of John MacFarlane of Ardourlich. They
had a daughter and six sons of whom the third son was Andrew.
Dugald died in 1779. A
legal testament, mainly concerning
a deceased George MacFarlane whose estate owed money to Dugald's estate, was
issued at the Court in Inveraray in 1786.
