James Peden was described
on his son's marriage certificate as a farmer. He may have come
from Ireland, or lived at some time in Ireland.
A James Peden was born in
Campbeltown in 1807 [1]. In 1834 he married Margaret Adams
in Ireland, probably in Killinchy, Down, where she was born.
Their son John returned to Scotland to live before 1878 [2]. This is consistent with the Peden family
story that the family came from Scotland originally but lived in
Ireland for a time.
