Elizabeth McKechnie was
born at 39 Ann Street in Greenock, the second child of Dugald and
Jane McKechnie. By the age of 23 she was a domestic servant
living at 109 Finart Street in Greenock. On 7th June 1895 she
married John Irving Hughes, aged 25, a 'locomotive stoker' born
in Corby, Cumberland.
By 1891 they were living
at 28 Bruce Street in Greenock. John died in 1933, and she lived
until 1957 when she was buried with her husband at Ettrick Bay,
Port Banatyne, on Bute.
