Flora McIntyre married John McKechnie near Lochgilphead in 1828 [7], and over the following 20 years she bore him ten children [2], [3]. After John's death in 1865, Flora went to live with her son Nicol and his family in Greenock, where she died in 1879 at the age of about 74, just before the end of the old year [8]. Her death certificate wrongly gives her age as 54.
