In 1901, James was living with his
parents at 26 Bruce Street, Greenock and was an apprentice caulker[2].
In 1920, he was a Journeyman Caulker, and married Elizabeth Brown McKellar[5],
known as Betty[3].
James is believed by the family to have
died in the 1930s[3],
though no Scottish record has yet been found. His widow remarried as Mrs
Boag[3].
