In 1891 at the age of 17, Peter was an apprentice brassfounder and lived with his parents at 51 Belville Street, Greenock [2]. By 1901 Peter lived at 21 John Street with his wife Barbara and eleven-month old son Nicol [3]. In 1902, Peter was described as a Shipwright[5].
