George was born in about 1824 at Pamber, Hants, to James and Ann Simpson. In 1841, aged 15, he was living with his parents and siblings at Paynes Peak, about a 2 miles southeast of Odiham. In 1849 he married Lucy Herridge, and in 1861 they were living with their children on Readen Farm, about 1 mile southeast of Odiham.
In 1881, George was living with his wife and some of his family on Horsedown Common, near Odiham. By 1901, he was working as gardener and domestic servant at St Stephen's School (near St Stephens Road, Castlebar Road & Pitshanger Lane) in Ealing, and his wife Lucy as housekeeper.
George & Lucy are buried in Perivale churchyard, to the left of the path leading to the porch.
