William Union was born in
Ireland to John and Mary Union. In the late 1840s he married Jane
Kerr, and in about 1856 they came to Greenock. In 1881 he lived with his wife at 4 St. Laurence
Street, and was described as a Joiner's Labourer.
After the death of his wife Jane, William
married again in 1883, to Ann Allan (maiden name McKechnie - she was a widow
when they married)[7].
He died in 1884 aged 57 of anasarca (better known as edema or dropsy)[7].
