Bob was the eldest son of John and Jane Peden, and was
born in 1879[4]. In 1910 he was described as an Engineer
when he married Elizabeth Archer in Greenock[5]. They had at
least one daughter, Jean; the girl and baby in the
photograph on the right appear in another picture taken
at the same time, captioned 'Nicol and cousin Jean from
China', dating this picture at late 1920[7]. The others in
the photograph are Bob's sister Margaret and her husband Dugie and baby Nicol, and Bob's wife
Elizabeth and daughter Jean[7].Bob was known by the McKechnies as
'Uncle Bob from China', and was an engineer with the
Shanghai Dockyard in China[7]. In 1932 he was living at 116 Connaught Road,
Shanghai[6]. He died on 6th April 1932 at the Country
Hospital, Shanghai[6]. The certificate does not give a cause of death.
